Is Singapore the answer to Japan's talent shortage?

81% of firms in Japan indicated that they are having difficulty finding qualified employees. According this OECD report, Japan is facing the greatest skills shortage of any country in the world. In order to fulfill these shortages, Japan is looking to Singapore.

 Japanese companies are grooming Singapore talent in deep skills through student internships and management trainee programmes. Is there going to be an increase in the movement of talent between Japan and Singapore within your mobility programme?

Mr Lim Swee Nian, assistant managing director of the Economic Development Board (EDB), told The Straits Times: "As one of Singapore's top three investors since our independence, Japan continues to leverage Singapore's position as Asia's leading talent hub, transferring valuable industrial knowledge and management skillsets through the creation of good jobs."
