I think I can still feel my teeth chattering.
Why, you ask? I’ll tell you — on March 2, I completed Polar Plunge 2019. It’s the first (and probably last) time I ever jump into a freezing cold lake.
While it’s definitely the coldest I’ve ever been, I’m also really happy I plunged. That’s because of what got me into that frozen lake — the $50,000 the Plus community raised for Children International.
Back in the final months of 2018, as we were celebrating our 50th anniversary, we created the 50-to-go Challenge as a way to cap off the year. Our goal was to rally our clients, employees, partners and industry friends to come together to raise $25,000 for Children International's HOPE Scholarship program by Dec. 31. If the goal was met, Plus pledged to match the amount to get to $50,000 total — and I promised to take that plunge.
Needless to say, our community rocks, as we came together to raise $25,175 in three months! We were honored as a company to contribute another $25,000, and as a woman of my word, I was honored to take that plunge on behalf of Plus and our friends at Children International. (PS — Thanks for the warm gifts!)
Check out the video below to see my cannonball into Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis (there’s even slow-motion!) and thank you so much to everyone who donated to and supported the 50-to-go Challenge. Together, we did something amazing, and it was well worth my icy leap!
