A recent survey of renters by Freddie Mac found that more than half do not intend to buy a home over the next three years.

Lifestyle preference is the major reason for continuing to rent. Specifically, renting is perceived to allow renters to save money and also has the benefit of not needing to worry about home maintenance.

70 percent of renters still believe that renting is more affordable than owning a home and 55 percent of renters plan to continue renting for at least the next three years, according to a quarterly survey of online renters by Freddie Mac released on Wednesday.
