Peter Newhouse, Global Head of Reward at Unilever, delivered a hard hitting and timely message to all global mobility professionals at last week's Worldwide ERC London Summit - it's time to innovate the dinosaur! So what has evolved in the past 30 years that is radically different from what many organisations and supply partners have been delivering to their international assignee population? Example: Why are long-term expats kept whole, working alongside local peers on a fraction of the expat's remuneration?
Peter's comments reminded me of an example of radical and culture linked thinking which Bola Ogun, whilst at Reckitt Benckiser (now Visa Europe), implemented to their own international population a few years ago. The Mercer report is well worth a read to get the ideas flowing. So who's ready to innovate the dinosaur?
