2018 is the year to prepare for...gaming to recruit talent and machines to replace humans?

Are you wondering what kind of hiring and human resource trends are emerging? It’s no secret that recruiters have to be creative when finding and retaining talent, but how are they looking to do this in the coming year? The article below is a great starting point that lays the groundwork for being creative in recruiting efforts.

We’ve all seen the movies and heard the experts talking about how eventually robots (artificial intelligence or AI) and other technology are bound to replace a large chunk of jobs. Now that this is slowly inching towards reality, how do we deal with it? How can we ensure that valuable jobs won’t largely be replaced by a more cost-effective solution? The answer is “future- proofing.”

Future-proofing is the idea of cross-training current employees to execute functions that require human intelligence so that when the time comes for the business to transition simpler tasks to machines, those employees already working for the company can transition to other roles.

Another interesting trend to watch for is called “gamification.” This is the idea of using game-like activities and tests to screen potential candidates by what seems like simple games to log data and create algorithms for obtaining talent. The potential candidates may not even know this is happening, which is why it’s an effective way to screen for raw talent and skills, rather than asking typical interview questions.

It’ll be interesting to see what other methods of recruiting emerge in result of the AI takeover but for now, we should start future-proofing!

With 2018 rapidly approaching, it’s clear that these technology-driven trends will impact the HR industry sooner rather than later. Many of these are already available and will simply grow in industry presence; the smart thing is to invest time and resources now to get ahead of the game.
