Happy Earth Day! Celebrate by considering how global mobility can help!

Happy Earth Day, everyone! Hoping you can put the trowel down for a couple of minutes as you work on your new garden and read this post. In the spirit of the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, we are actually recycling a post that we had previously published that focused on how global mobility can address sustainability. I will be short here so you can click the link and go read that previous post to get more familiar with what the global mobility industry is doing related to sustainability.

We can each make a difference. Terra Pascarosa Duff, the Earth Day national campaign director, explains that:

"On Earth Day, and every day, there are many ways for individuals around the world to take action and make our shared home a more sustainable and healthy place to live. We do not have the luxury of time when it comes to combating climate change — we all need to act, and act quickly."

As I mentioned in that previous post, while some have been working hard to move us all to a more sustainable mindset, the pandemic caused us to change behaviors immediately and exposed the degree of impact we can actually have (in a positive way). So the challenge that continues is that as we head toward an end to the pandemic and toward economic recovery, what behaviors can and will we maintain or implement to protect the environment while we build our businesses to perform profitably?

If you are looking for a greater amount of information for context as you consider how to make a critical impact, try BCG's "How to Protect the Planet."

While I know my family at home and my family at work (Plus Relocation) makes an effort to reduce our impact on the environment (things like composting, more effort to recycling, using metal straws, managing lights and heat), I wasn't aware of the degree of effort being put forth from the global mobility/relocation industry at large. Again, I know Plus suppliers and their subcontractors are vetted to ensure they are complying with all environmental rules, regulations and standards applicable to their operations, but there are some unique things that are being done by some of those industry service partners.
